A man has been sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of importing, selling and possessing cannabis with a prescription in a state of “unlawful importation”.
The British Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said today that the court has sentenced a man to two years in prison and ordered the release of four grams of cannabis plants. The product is being imported from India.
A MHRA spokesperson said: “The MHRA will continue to monitor the situation and continue to monitor the importation of cannabis products from India.”
The case was brought by the Department of Health (DH), the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the Pharmaceutical Regulatory Authority of India (PRAI).
